The Erez crossing will be open to foreign journalists with an Israeli government press office (GPO) card. The journalists must also sign a waiver saying they are "aware that armed hostilities are currently taking place in and around the ares of the Gaza Strip (including the crossings thereto). The journalists must undertake not to hold the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MOD) or the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) responsible if anything happens to them. And, if something happens, and if the journalists decide to try to sue the MOD or IDF, despite having signed the waiver, the journalists must say they are aware that the MOD will file a counterclaim against the journalist.

You enter Israel on your national passport, and hope to get a three-month tourist visit. Then you go to the GPO, which is part of the Prime Minister's Office, (you can find it on the internet) and see what you need to apply for a visiting journalist press card.

Thanks for your extremely interesting blog.

I am documentary filmmaker currently planning to go to Gaza. With your current work and experience in the region could you share some information on the current status at the borders? How do we get in these days? Which type of visa do we need? Do you have contacts in Gaza, other journalists, reporters?

I have a Belgian passport- and still a UN passport although I dont currently work with the UN.

I would appreciate your tips and informations. Bests
